Party chairs predict that campaigns will invest hundreds of millions in Wisconsin

Political Parties in Wisconsin Brace for High Spending in 2024 Elections

The upcoming elections in Wisconsin are set to be some of the most expensive in history, with both major political parties agreeing that spending will be high for contests at all levels. State chairs Ben Wikler and Brian Schimming discussed the potential for hundreds of millions of dollars to be spent on campaigns during a forum in Madison.

With Wisconsin being a pivotal state in the presidential race, as well as having competitive races for the U.S. Senate, congressional seats, and new state legislative districts, the stakes are high for both parties. The new voting maps in the state have shifted the political landscape, giving Republicans less of an advantage, making every race crucial.

Both parties are gearing up for a fierce battle, with Schimming emphasizing the need to grow the Republican voter base and turn out regular voters. He also expressed a commitment to utilizing every potential advantage within the election laws to secure a win for the party.

On the other hand, Wikler highlighted the importance of making it easier to vote and ensuring that all votes are counted. He emphasized the need for both parties to compete for the most votes rather than trying to suppress certain types of votes.

The two party chairs also discussed the impact of campaign visits by former President Donald Trump and current Democratic leaders. While Trump’s visits have not resulted in a significant improvement in public opinion polls, the Democratic ticket has been actively engaging with voters in Wisconsin.

As the election season heats up, both parties are gearing up for what promises to be a highly contested and expensive battle for control at all levels of government in Wisconsin. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
