Mother claims Chuck E Cheese mascot ignored her child in viral video sparking racism accusations

Chuck E Cheese Accused of Racial Discrimination: Mother Exposes Employee Ignoring Black Child

Chuck E Cheese is the latest establishment to be under fire for racial discrimination after a mother took to Twitter to expose an employee for ignoring a Black girl. The incident, which occurred at a Chuck E Cheese in Wayne, NJ, was captured on video and shared on social media, quickly gaining over 3.3 million views and sparking outrage.

The video shows the Chuck E Cheese mascot giving high fives to numerous Caucasian children on stage, while seemingly ignoring the Black child who was following the mascot around. The mother, operating under the username @bellahijabi, accused the mascot of purposefully ignoring her 2-year-old daughter. When confronted, the mascot allegedly ignored both the child and the mother.

The mother also claimed that the branch’s manager, Angie Valasquez, made excuses for the mascot’s behavior, stating that he did not see the Black child. Despite showing proof to the manager, the mother felt that her concerns were dismissed.

In a separate tweet, the mother expressed her frustration, stating, “This is getting out of hand!” She also revealed that the management insisted on taking a picture with the mascot, despite the mother’s objections. The resulting picture showed the child standing awkwardly with her hands crossed while the mascot gave a thumbs up.

This incident at Chuck E Cheese is not an isolated one, as other establishments like Disneyland and Sesame Place have also faced accusations of racial discrimination. A Disneyland employee playing Rapunzel was called out for ignoring a Black girl’s request for a picture, while a video of a character named Rosita at Sesame Place ignoring two Black girls went viral, leading to a $25 million lawsuit against the theme park.

The growing trend of racial discrimination in family-friendly establishments has sparked outrage on social media, with celebrities like Kelly Rowland and Whoopi Goldberg speaking out against the behavior. As more incidents come to light, it is clear that there is a pressing need for these establishments to address and rectify issues of racial discrimination within their staff and characters.
