Maricopa County Elections Seeking 2,000 Temporary Workers for Arizona’s Election Season

Maricopa County in Arizona is gearing up for the upcoming election season by looking to hire 2,000 temporary workers. With 1,500 positions for temporary poll workers and 500 other open roles, officials are working to ensure a smooth primary election on July 30.

Deputy Elections Director for Communications, Jennifer Liewer, emphasized the importance of hiring now to properly recruit, process, and train election workers well before election day. To kickstart the hiring process, officials will be hosting an in-person hiring event at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Training Center Auditorium on Friday.

The positions available range from warehouse drivers to technical support, ballot couriers, clerks, staff trainers, recruiters, tabulation staff, and more. These roles may last from a few days to a few months, and workers must be registered to vote, pass a background check, and be willing to work with members of all political parties.

In addition to hourly pay ranging from $14.35 to $21, eligible workers will receive a $1,250 incentive. Liewer highlighted the rewarding aspect of being an election worker, as it provides the opportunity to meet and assist people in the community while upholding the integrity of voting in Maricopa County.

Prospective part-timers can apply for these positions online through the Maricopa County Elections website. If you have a story idea or tip related to this hiring process, you can reach out to the KTAR News team via email.
