Kari Lake petitions Supreme Court to review voting machines case

Kari Lake Files Signatures for Ballot, Asks Supreme Court to Take Voting Machines Case

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake is making headlines once again as she filed enough signatures to qualify for the ballot on Friday, March 15, 2024. Lake, along with former state lawmaker Mark Finchem, is challenging the use of electronic voting machines in Arizona, dating back to her run for governor in 2022.

The duo is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to give them a do-over of their claim that the machines used to tabulate votes in some Arizona counties are unreliable and violate their constitutional rights. Their attorney, Lawrence Joseph, stated that they have new evidence that was not known during their initial claim in 2022, which they were not able to present to a federal judge in Arizona.

Despite facing setbacks in previous legal battles, Lake remains optimistic about her chances in the upcoming election. She confidently stated that she is looking forward to the general election and believes she has the ability to compete, even with the significant financial resources being poured into the race.

The ongoing litigation does not directly impact Lake’s separate case to overturn her loss in the 2022 gubernatorial race. However, Joseph argued that both Lake and Finchem suffered a “procedural injury” that could warrant a “do-over” in the election.

The case revolves around allegations that the voting machines used in Arizona are susceptible to hacking and were not in compliance with state laws. Despite previous rulings dismissing their claims, Joseph claimed that new evidence shows that Maricopa County failed to follow regulations and that the Dominion Voting Systems Inc. systems used in the county have a security breach.

Lake and Finchem are seeking an opportunity to present this new evidence at a new trial in hopes of restoring faith in the election system. The question now lies with the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, who will determine the validity of their claims.

As the legal battle continues, Lake remains steadfast in her pursuit of the Senate seat, filing over 10,000 signatures to qualify for the ballot. With the support of her team and newfound evidence, Lake is determined to make her mark in the upcoming election.
