2024 U.S. Senate Race in Arizona: Meet the Candidates

The race for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona is heating up as six candidates have made the primary ballot in three parties, making it one of the most highly watched matches of the 2024 election cycle nationwide.

Ruben Gallego, the Democratic congressman running for the seat, will face no primary competition. On the Republican side, Kari Lake, Mark Lamb, and Elizabeth Reye will battle for the nomination, while two more candidates will seek the Green Party nomination.

Ruben Gallego, a Democrat, currently serves in the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 3rd District. He is a Harvard graduate and a former Marine who served in Iraq. Gallego is running on a platform that includes pro-choice policies and bringing more jobs to Arizona while protecting the state’s natural resources.

Kari Lake, a Republican and former television news anchor, is focusing on securing the U.S. border, cutting inflation, and reducing the deficit. Mark Lamb, the Pinal County Sheriff, is running on a platform of securing the border, combating cartels, and protecting Second Amendment rights.

The Green Party candidates, Arturo Hernandez and Michael Norton, are also in the race. Hernandez, a Yuma resident, has not been involved with the local Green Party, while Norton, the executive director of the Athena Foundation, is running against what he calls the rise of extreme politics in America.

Elizabeth Reye, a Reagan Republican and neuroscience doctorate holder, is running on a platform of border security, Second Amendment protections, and abortion rights.

With a diverse group of candidates and a wide range of policy positions, the race for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona is sure to be one to watch in the upcoming election cycle.
