Wisconsin U.S. Senate Race Update: Hovde Loans Campaign $8 Million, Baldwin Raises $5.4 Million
The U.S. Senate race in Wisconsin is heating up as candidates Eric Hovde and Tammy Baldwin report their fundraising numbers for the first quarter of the year. Hovde, a GOP candidate, made a significant personal investment of $8 million into his campaign, making it one of the largest personal investments in Wisconsin Senate race history. In contrast, Baldwin, a Democrat, raised $5.4 million during the same period, finishing with $10.3 million in the bank.
Hovde’s fundraising efforts included $940,437 from individuals and $90,000 from PACs, with additional support from transfers from other committees. On the other hand, Baldwin’s fundraising was more robust, with over $4.4 million raised from individuals, including a significant portion from unitemized donations.
The race is already shaping up to be a competitive one, with both candidates actively fundraising and campaigning. Hovde’s personal contribution to his campaign is notable, but falls short of what previous candidates like Alex Lasry and Ron Johnson have put into their campaigns. With the race gaining momentum, it will be interesting to see how the candidates continue to engage with voters and compete for the Senate seat.
