Former Labour MPs Seeking Return to Parliament

Former Labour MPs are making a comeback in anticipation of the upcoming general election, with almost a dozen candidates hoping for a second stint in Westminster. These familiar faces include Douglas Alexander, Heidi Alexander, Mary Creagh, Sir Nicholas Dakin, James Frith, John Grogan, Melanie Onn, Jo Platt, Emma Reynolds, Gareth Snell, and Anna Turley.

Douglas Alexander, who previously served as transport secretary and international development secretary, is standing in East Lothian. Heidi Alexander, former shadow health secretary, is now the Labour candidate for South Swindon. Mary Creagh, who served in Ed Miliband’s shadow cabinet, is running in Coventry North East. Sir Nicholas Dakin, who was knighted for political service, is hoping to win back Scunthorpe. James Frith, who narrowly lost his seat in Bury North, is aiming for a return to Parliament.

John Grogan, who championed local causes in Keighly, is seeking to reclaim his seat. Melanie Onn, who resigned from the frontbench over leadership issues, is running in Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Jo Platt, who was the first female MP for Leigh, is looking to regain her seat. Emma Reynolds, who served as a shadow minister under Ed Miliband, hopes to represent Wycombe. Gareth Snell, who won a by-election in Stoke-on-Trent Central, is running for re-election. Anna Turley, a vocal critic of Jeremy Corbyn, is standing in Redcar.
