Senate Race in Wisconsin: Baldwin Leads in Fundraising Battle Against Hovde

The battle for Senate in Wisconsin is heating up as incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin takes an early lead over Republican challenger Eric Hovde in the race for campaign cash. Campaign finance reports show that Baldwin has received more than $10 million in donations, with an average contribution of $52.06, while Hovde raised about a million dollars from donors and loaned his campaign $8 million, with an average contribution of $218.20.

According to analysis by Open Secrets, Baldwin’s top donor zip codes are in Wisconsin, while Hovde’s are in California, Texas, Florida, and Illinois. This race has been nationalized, with control of the Senate possibly hinging on the outcome.

Both campaigns claim to have grassroots support, with Hovde’s campaign emphasizing support from grassroots Wisconsinites and Baldwin’s campaign highlighting support from grassroots donors across all 72 counties in Wisconsin.

As the race continues, all eyes are on these swing states, with a clearer comparison of each candidate’s fundraising expected when the numbers are reported for the second quarter of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this closely watched local election.
